Disciplines
Obedience

Every dog must be brought up from the beginning. There are also many people who go to a dog school with their dog to follow some courses of obedience; a starting point for other disciplines. Because the border collie learns very quickly, it is fun to continue and participate in competitions.

Obedience

Obedience is an England-based competitive sport for boss and dog. This sport consists of rules laid down in the 'Kennelclub Obedience Show Regulations'. The sport includes six competition classes, which have an increasing difficulty and where boss and dog are evaluated as a team on their skills in the various exercises.

Agility

Agility is a sport in which the handler and the dog are actively involved. A course with different obstacles is set up. It is the intention to finish this way with the dog in as short a time and without failures. The obstacles are for example a tunnel, a dog run, an A-fence, the poles and the seesaw.

DoggyDance

Doggy dance is one of the morst recent disciplines, and found hir origin in the UK.

The name says it all: dancing with your dog.

You learn your dog different tricks as walking between your legs, running around, running backwards, ...

These tricks are performed on music and become a rhythmic whole, sometimes surprising, sometimes emotional, sometimes very spectacular.

Schapendrijven

Herding can be started with a border collie from the age of ten months.

The dog must dominate a number of obedience exercises.

These basics are necessary for herding. The 3 major commands "that"ll do", "stay there" en "lay down" are learned from uppy time

If you decide to perform this discipline with your border collie, it is important that you search for an experienced handler.

For beginners, training a young dog is often a complicated tasksbecause both the behavior of the dog, the sheep and you have to be controlled.

Following dogs our of our kennel are participating in herding.

Flyball

Flyball is a dog sport in which teams of dogs race against each other from a start/finish line, over a line of hurdles, to a box that releases a tennis ball to be caught when the dog presses the spring-loaded pad, then back to their handlers while carrying the ball. Each dog must return its ball all the way across the start line before the next dog crosses. Ideal running is nose-to-nose at the start line. The first team to have all four dogs cross the finish line error free wins the heat. Penalties are applied to teams if the ball is dropped or if the next relay dog is released early.

Canicross

Canicross is the sport of cross country running with dogs. Canicross can be run with one or two dogs, always attached to the runner. The runner typically wears a waist belt, the dog a harness, and the two are joined by a bungee cord or elastic line[1] that reduces shock to both human and dog when the dog pulls.
